What's in a Number? Part 3

Posted by: jlake02

When a player gets drafted to CGS he or she is asked what number they would like on their gamer jersey. Most gamers are very particular about this number. Why is that? What's in a number?

Whether it's the famous "23" of Michael Jordan or the "3" of Dale Earnhardt, numbers often come to define sports personalities. Some players choose them from superstitions. Some choose them for symbolism.

Why did your favorite CGS personality choose his or her number? What's in a Number? is here to find out. Enjoy Part 3!

Kevin "CHA0S" Parrish

Actually, my number comes from a MotoGP racer, Nicky Hayden. We used to watch him run back when he was in the AMA at mid-ohio raceway. He was probably the racer we followed the most and obviously we were correct about him being good since he moved up to the world competition and best everyone. We also though it was cool that if he wrecked and his bike was upside down his number was still the same. So despite the rumors I didnt pick the number for its "hidden meaning."

Alessandro "stermy^" Avallone

Well the story behind my Jersey number is pretty easy.. Since I started playing real soccer when I was 3-4 years old I always had number 10 or 9. It's also the number of great champions like Ronaldinho or back in the days, Maradona.

Mohamed "moE" Assad #00

Well I wanted something something unique and said, "How bout 00," then Stermy laughed and bet me a meal I wouldnt pick it for the whole season. A filet mingon later I'm 00 :)

David "zid" Chin #7

Well choosing the #7 was pretty simple for me. I was born in July and I've always thought of it as my lucky number. Number 7 is always number 1 in my mind.

Sam "Devour" Chamma #7

When they asked for a number, 7 was the first number I thought of because of lucky 7.

Matt "WiZaKoR" Wood #5

#5 is my lucky number. My first year in hockey when I was 5 years old I was assigned #5 as my jersey number, every year since that point I've always wanted number 5. It's a number that has always stuck with me in anything I do.

Alex "JaX" Conroy #19

19 was pretty much the best year of my life. I feel it defined me a lot as a person and it was when I was 19 that I got hired by CGS, so it seemed appropriate.

Kyle "Mustang" Cummings #22

Well, I choose #22 since its my lucky number. Wish I had a good story for ya but that's about it =p.

Pasha "Lari" Lari #23

Simple, really. I played basketball as a kid and it was always my favorite sport. I got to grow up watching Michael Jordan in his prime, and he was always my favorite player and the person I looked up to the most, hence the my number 23.

Thanks to all the CGS managers and players for sharing their stories! Stay tuned for Part 4 of "What's in a Number?"
