Week in Review
Written By: Michael “Peawok” FlemingHey everyone! How are you doing? It was a pretty uneventful week in eSports. I don’t think I’ve seen much slower weeks. Especially the weekend; what was up with the lack of forum posting? That never happens on the CompLexity website. It was like a wasteland or something. Maybe that net neutrality and using too much bandwidth to fast hit early and everyone but the CompLexity site and I were out. Who knows? Not me.
So, I have nothing really to talk about this week. News has been rather dry and filler is needed. There was one thing that interested me, however, so I probably will spend a great deal of time on that. On with my review:
Fatal1ty Buys a Condo

When I spotted this on CompLexity’s Community News, I laughed a bit too. In fact, even I was a bit freaked out that Jake found this information and aMies posted it on the main site. But – when you truly think about it – it makes perfect sense.
Fatal1ty has been playing games for years. And if you glance over his biography on his website, you’ll notice he has more winnings than nearly any other player. Needless to say, he’s a huge name in the competitive gaming seen. Sure, it might be a bit sketchy to go and post up the actual address of where he lives, but look at it from a different perspective. Gaming has for a long time been in the basements of hotels and event spaces. Now, we’re taking colossal arenas and hosting major events. That’s huge for gaming. Putting down that Fatal1ty owns a condo isn’t weird at all; it’s news none the less. He is the most successful American gamer to date; he’s made the most from it. Showing what he has achieved reminds us of where we’re heading; where all gamers hope to get to.
Don’t be freaked out that everyone knows where Fatal1ty lives. We all know where Terrell Owens lives, but no Philadelphia fans go and ‘teepee’ his house like they said they would do (forum posters… I’m looking at you!!). Fatal1ty will be fine. If anything, he is a sign of just where we want every gamer to reach.
SK Gaming wins Extreme Masters

People are again calling for certain members of EG.usa to be dropped, but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. It looks like the team is certain that these are the five players they want. And hey, a third place finish isn’t awful. SK Gaming and MiBR are very strong teams. Sure, it would have been nice to see them go all the way, but I’m content with a third place finish.
As for SK Gaming, it looks like Zet has motivated them once more. Zet himself is playing well, and the entire team looks renewed. He has brought them something they haven’t had in quite awhile. While Spawn was a great player, he wasn’t ‘new blood’ that SK needed. They found it in a very motivated Zet, returning off of two CGS seasons and looking to restore his spot in the 1.6 scene. I would like to extend my congratulations to our old player.
x3o is USA’s WCG Winner

It appears the struggle between x3o and EG.usa will continue for awhile. Personally, I love it. Nothing is better than watching two teams battle for the top spot in their region. It’s the rivalry that was CompLexity and 3D, just renewed and revived after CGS began. I love seeing a new rivalry grow. It will help the 1.6 scene continue to grow; a necessity at this point.
So congratulations to Team x3o and do well in the finals!
I told you this ‘Week In Review’ would be short. Hopefully you listened. I’ll get you guys a big one next weekend. Hope you enjoyed this one; see you next week!
