CGS Week in Review
Written By: Michael “Peawok” FlemingHey everyone. Sorry I haven’t been around much to do a WIR. Let’s just say with all the other content, the fact that college has now hit its second week, and Guitar Hero, I’ve become completely oblivious to the fact that “hey, I am the Week in Review writer!”
Needless to say, Jason set me straight in his classic “GIVE ME A WIR NOW PEAWOK OR I WILL KILL YOU” fashion. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that harsh, but I still could hear his fingers vigourously typing on his Dell XPS laptop.
Instead of running for the hills, I ran to the likes of eSports news. Here’s what I discovered:
As a quick side thing, I’ve decided to call this the “Week of the Finally”. Every one of these things should have happened awhile ago, and it seems that they all happened at once.
coL.cs dominating CEVO…finally…

A four game winning streak is fantastic, and I think CompLexity finally found their edge. fRoD, hanes and Rambo have really stepped it up in the past few matches, so hopefully they keep it going through the rest of CEVO.
Here’s that team we knew we had, coL fans.
Zet to SK…finally…

I, personally, think he will, because – in my opinion – Counter Strike has taken towards a more aggressive style of play. Crouch hopping and quick, decisive tactics appear to be in. That’s not to say a team who is more passive aggressive won’t do well, but I just think everyone has picked up on their aggression level.
With Zet in SK, Spawn has retired once again from the SK lineup. He is supposed to take on another position and I think that will truly happen this time. Zet will fit in with SK and should do well in their lineup.
EG.usa adds hostile, MoB takes evolution…finally…

As for EG, I think the addition of hostile was probably the best move they could make. He is a great player – probably one of the top five in America – and is a fantastic addition. I’m not sure he can fill in with the team, but hey, you put n0thing and hostile together, and you’ve got yourself a fantastic duo. Steno knows what he is doing, so I think hostile will find his place in EG.
Most people are probably upset that chE remained and Ninespot got the boot from EG.usa and I can’t really give the reasoning behind it. Or, another debate others may have is “Why the hell is Nepo still there?” Again, I cannot give any kind of reasoning. If I tried, it would be so ill-informed that I’d sound dumb.
I guess we just have to wait and see what happens.
EG joins G7…finally…

People wonder why x3o wasn’t brought in and the best thing I can come up with is that they aren’t as set in stone as EG is. It’s kind of like a new 3D and CompLexity rivalry among those two teams, and so far x3o hasn’t been recognized for their talent and prestige in American Counter Strike.
But one other reason might be that it is a slippery slope effect. You bring in x3o as well, then what about MoB? Can you leave behind the third best team in North American 1.6? Then this team, then that team, then that team? Then what about the Europeans who aren’t in? It just keeps going and somewhere you have to draw the line. It’s better later than before, in my opinion.
That’s all I have for you this week. I’ll check back in next Sunday to give you all the news of this week. Until next time!
