Peawok’s Daily CGS Predictions

Written By: Michael “Peawok” Fleming

I love DOA. Honestly, when CGS began, I was spectacle about watching fighting games played competitively. I suck at them (except Smash Bros.). Really, I can’t play any of the harder ones. However, since last season I’ve been hooked in on DOA. Another reason why I love DOA is one – I usually do well, predictions wise, and two – It gives me an opportunity to beef up my record.

Well, that happened this week and I damn glad it did. Here were the scores:

Dave Chappelle > Offbeat Ninja 5-0
Mystik > Coolsvilla 5-0
Perfect Legend > Swoozie 5-2
Phoenix > Belle 5-3
CaliJared > Silent Legend 5-1
Vanessa > Kasumi Chan 5-0

Record: 4-2
Overall Record: 26-26

So, another 4-2 day for me. Could we see a turnaround? Hopefully – I did awful last week. Oh yes, my thoughts on the matches. Here you go…

Offbeat Ninja isn’t sandbagging – he’s metalbagging or something (Corny joke for the win!!!). Sorry, but nobody loses 5-0. He has done terrible so far and if he’s this bad during the season, then I might have to give Mark a call and hope he isn’t depressed. As for Chappelle – he’s proved me wrong. He isn’t really a “weak link”, but I still can’t put him in the top three. He will cause some upsets but I just don’t see him being one of the top players at the end of the regular season.

Mystik kicked Coolsvilla’s butt. Simple as that. This is good for me – in a way – because I think Mystik is number two in DOA F this season. Of course, she did give me a ‘L’ in my record. Ah well. There isn’t much else to say. Coolsvilla won’t be top two in her division at the end of the season. Third? Maybe, but I think Phoenix will be ahead of her. Then we have to take into account Belle and Kasumi Chan, too… Ugh – The headaches!

Master decided to protect his undefeated record by sending Swoozie in his place. Did you ever see “Snakes on a Plane” where that businessman threw the girls dog at the anaconda and then was eaten himself? It kind of was like that. Perfect Legend is my number one, right now. Master is probably right behind him. I can’t wait for the regular season to see these guys compete.

Phoenix took down Belle. It was a pretty close match and I really think Belle is bringing in more points consistently, which is always a good thing. Jake said he’d give away his XPS Laptop if she isn’t second to fourth – A very bold statement, might I add. Right now, I think second and third are out of the question. She may get in fourth, but if I were Jake, I’d start worrying. Unless, of course, Belle has been hiding part of her skill. Hmm… partial sandbagging? Never know… As for Phoenix, she’s sitting in my number two/three slot. I can’t wait for her vs. Mystik during the regular season.

Cali Jared vs. Silent Legend… Not much to say. Neither will play in the regular season. Sorry but none of the GM’s will swap out their DOA Male player. I can all but guarantee that.

Vanessa vs. Kasumi Chan? Hahahahaa. I shouldn’t even start. To humor you – Vanessa is number one. Kasumi Chan might be sandbagging worse than Offbeat. The end.

One last thing to add – I can’t wait for next Tuesday. Here’s my FIFA Preds:

Wednesday, May 14: FIFA '08

Wizakor vs. Anomaly

Wizakor lost last week 3-0 against Barmoa. Not good – Especially when I think Barmoa may be the “weak link” of FIFA. I still believe Wizakor is the number two FIFA player, but I’m starting to think FIFA is a lot closer than I previously believed. Still though, Wizakor is last year’s World Champion. He should find a way to handle Anomaly.

Speaking of Anomaly – is the guy sandbagging? It is hard to tell. Personally, I don’t think so. He’s kept games close but has always ended on the wrong side of the ball. So maybe he is sandbagging. With Core, anything is possible. Let’s do a coin flip. Heads, Wizakor. Tails, Anomaly. It came up heads.

Wizakor wins
1-0

Editor's Note: Taxi Players Kabe and Mojo will be playing this match.

Kreegan vs. Barmoa

Kreegan is still number one. Honestly, he’s so good at FIFA 08 it’s pretty incredible. Right now, I don’t see how he won’t win FIFA this year. Of course, I’m not sure if Jake will sub out Kreegan one of these days. I don’t think he will anytime soon, and we should see him play Barmoa. Barmoa did take down Wizakor, though, and rather convincingly too. I’m only a bit nervous, though, as Kreegan is still, in my eyes, the best FIFA player.

Barmoa did play well last week against Wizakor. A 3-0 score against my personal number two is good, but I don’t think he can beat Kreegan. In my opinion, someone will need to get a whole lot of luck to beat Kreegan. In the regular season, Barmoa may be the one to beat him. Right now, though, I just don’t see it happening. Kreegan takes this.

Kreegan wins
3-1

Stermy vs. Eafra

Stermy is back in the United States and, should he play, will be even deadlier than last week. I don’t think Kat will sit him out twice during preseason, so we should see him again this week. I believe Stermy is one of the top three FIFA player, and if he keeps improving, he may even pass Wizakor. If anyone can learn a game and become successful in it, Stermy would be one of my top choices. He should put up quite a match against Eafra.

Eafra did win the combine. He has played all right during preseason. Online play may be a factor, but still, I don’t think Eafra will end in the top two. He may beat out Stermy for the third spot. Really, though, it’s Kreegan, then Wizakor, then the rest. We’ll have to wait and see just how good Eafra is during the season, but I just don’t see him beating Stermy here.

Stermy wins
2-1

That’s it everyone. Hope you enjoyed the read. See you tomorrow for Counter Strike: Source!

Hard to do the preds with so many taxi players playing, but oh well, it'll be fun to see how it turns out anyway.

I agree, Kreegan is still number one. Kreegan is going to smoke Barmoa!
