Peawok’s Daily CGS Predictions
Written By: Michael “Peawok” Fleming
Hey again, everyone. Another exciting day is in the books and I’m still going strong. I was refreshing the Phoenix/Coolsvilla score over and over, thinking that if she won a 5-1 might just come my way. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen, and to top it off Perfect Legend lost as well. I thought NinjaCW would upset him, but I believed it would happen in the regular season. Here were the final scores:
Black Mamba > Offbeat Ninja 5-2
Mystik > Kasumi Chan 5-0
MASTER > Chappelle 5-4
Coolsvilla > Phoenix 5-4
NinjaCW > Perfect Legend 5-3
Vanessa > Belle 5-0
Record: 3-3
Overall Record: 20-16
Well, I didn’t lose percentage, but didn’t win any either. Mamba beating Offbeat by such a margin really surprised me, but I think the game was a lot closer than the rounds suggest. Coolsvilla beat Phoenix, to my surprise, but the match could have gone either way as well.
Belle did rather well, but Vanessa was able to close out the two close rounds Belle nearly won. Vanessa also used an alternate, which has to be taken into consideration. Vanessa looks set on winning big this season, but I won’t be convinced until we get off online play.
I don’t know what happened in Perfect Legend’s matchup against NinjaCW. The only thing I can say is that things happen, and unfortunately the upset came a bit sooner than I expected.
Dave Chappelle shocked me as well. I still believe he is the weak link of the group, but when I say “weak link” I don’t mean terrible. The guy still has the ability to place well, but compared to the other players, I just see him ending right behind the fifth and fourth place finishers during the season.
Overall, online DOA (or online anything, for that matter), is extremely random, but must be taken into consideration. Regardless of the final scores, you still can get a sense of the players’ abilities.
That’s enough DOA for now. Here is my FIFA predictions for the week:
Wednesday, May 7: FIFA '08
Eafra vs. Anomaly
The old Chicago Chimera star vs. the new Chicago Chimera star. This match should be very exciting. Anomaly so far has had a terrible training camp, going 0-2. I’m sure both Anomaly and Dolven are frustrated by his poor performance – keeping it close is nice but winning is also important as well. Anomaly cannot afford to lose another match. I’m sure he’ll be out in full force tonight. With college ending, he should have no problem putting up a strong fight against Eafra.
Eafra comes into this match after an off week. Taxi player Michs09 played in his place and actually put up a solid fight against Wizakor. Unfortunetly, that puts me in a tight spot; I don’t know much about Eafra so far. He did beat Barmoa 2-0 in the first week, but that still isn’t really enough to judge him. The game stays close, but I think Anomaly takes it in the end.
Anomaly wins
1-0
Barmoa vs. Wizakor
Barmoa comes into this matchup 1-1. He lost a matchup against Eafra the first week and then destroyed San Francisco Optx’s taxi player, Nate, 3-0. I don’t think Barmoa is near the top of the FIFA skill this season, but I don’t count him out for a fourth place finish. He should keep every game close, which is a good thing, but I doubt he beats Kreegan or Wizakor.
Wizakor comes into this matchup after a rather weak performance against Michs. He did win 1-0, but I think he needs to score more than that to help his team. He is battling the flu, so we may not see him this week. Overall, Wizakor is still a great player and should win most of his games, but if the score is 1-0 every game I wouldn’t rely too much on him. Overall, he should find a way to win this match. Even if he doesn’t play, Mojo should put up a good fight as well.
Wizakor wins
2-0
Kreegan vs. Stermy
Stermy comes into this match 1-0. He did not play last week, likely due to his poor internet connection. I think Stermy has greatly improved over the year and should be in or right behind the top three at the end of this season. However, if he’s still in Italy, Kat Hunter might decide not to play him. If he plays, he’ll have trouble handling the, so far, undefeated Kreegan.
Kreegan has proved to be worth that protection sticker Jake put on him. He is 2-0 with two strong wins over Mojo and Anomaly. I believe he should be number one or two at the end of the season, but more importantly, he will provide quite a number of points for LA. He should have no trouble handling Stermy and if he plays Nate it will be disastrous for San Francisco.
Kreegan wins
2-0
That’s it everyone. I know it’s short, but hey, three matches isn’t much. I’ll see you all tomorrow!
