Peawok's Daily Season Predictions #11

Peawok’s Daily CGS Predictions

Written By: Michael “Peawok” Fleming

Hi everyone. I’ve got to keep this short and sweet, mainly because the teams play in less than an hour. Not smart by me, but hey, got to give me some credit. Here are last night’s scores:

Dallas Venom > Chicago Chimera 24-17
Los Angeles CompLexity > Carolina Core 22-20

Record: 1-1
Overall Record: 9-13

It goes without saying, I’ve been royally had. I’m sorry but I predicted coL to win three times and never got redemption, then I go against them and they win. Come on…

Belle also grabbed her first win, to my surprise. I won’t go into the whole “should Belle be drafted next season” question this early, but her beating Mystik is incredible. It goes without saying that any win Belle gets helps the team out immensely. Not only does the other team drop a few points, Complexity picks some up as well.

Dallas took down Chicago, which was expected. Now it all comes down to this final match. Enough said. Here are my “preds” for the final night of the regular season:

Dallas Venom vs. Carolina Core

The first match pits the Dallas Venom against the Carolina Core. If Carolina wins, they’re in. If Dallas wins, Carolina has to wait a few more hours to find out if they’re going home. A Chimera win and a Core loss allows Chimera to take the final seed from Carolina. Carolina is the master of their own destiny in this matchup.

For Dallas to win, they need to win DOAF. CSS and DOAM are all but given to win, as I’m sure both want a spot in the Individual World Finals. From there, JaX can expect at least three positive points, so a strong showing in DOAF will give Dallas that final push.

If Carolina wants to win, they have to beat Dallas’ Source Team. A significant loss there spells disaster for this team. I’m sure they’re motivation is crushed, because Los Angeles was winless before them. They failed miserably to capitalize on Chicago’s loss. However, I think the passion is still there and Mark Dolven can motivate them for one final push to the playoffs.

It’s “do or wait” for Core. Should they lose, they need to see if Chimera loses. Should they win, they’re in. If you have DirecTV I’d recommend watching because Mark Dolven is going to be crazy tonight.

Here’s how I predict the match plays out:

CSS: 12-6 Dallas
DOAM: 5-4 Dallas
DOAF: 5-4 Dallas
FIFA: 2-0 Core
FORZA: 6-1 Core
Dallas wins: 23-22

San Francisco Optx vs. Chicago Chimera

The second match pits San Francisco up against “wait…then do or die!” against Chicago. If Carolina wins, Chicago is definitely out. However, if Carolina loses then Chicago controls their destiny. A win in that situation would give them the fourth best record and a shot in the playoffs.

For San Francisco to win, they need to destroy DOA. Chimera’s Source and Forza squads are going to be hitting hard this match, so a 10-1 score in DOA is all but required. A 10-5, 10-4 will likely not be enough, and anything closer (10-7, 10-6) gives Chicago a win. With Vanessa almost guaranteed to win 5-1, NinjaCW will need to pick it up and win 5-2 or better as well.

For Chicago to win, they need to capitalize in Forza and Counter Strike. JasonX and Ch0mpr have picked their game up and a 6-1 from them will go a long way in this matchup. The Counter Strike team, too, needs to pick their game up and come out huge for Chicago. A 11-7, or better 12-6, will guarantee the win, as long as DOA hold their own.

Chimera can win this matchup and I do believe it all comes down to Core. Of course, I may get unlucky, with Core winning and Chimera having no shot. Hopefully that doesn’t happen, and it plays out like I predict.

Here’s how I predict the match plays out:

CSS: 10-8 Chimera
DOAM: 5-3 Optx
DOAF: 5-1 Optx
FIFA: 5-4 Chimera
FORZA: 5-2 Chimera
Chimera wins: 24-24 (Chimera takes the OT Round)

3D.NY vs. CompLexity LA

Well, unfortunately this match doesn’t matter for either team, but it does mean a lot for me. I need another win. You know what would have been great? If this match put either team as the fourth seed. Talk about a renewed rivalry…

3D can win by a strong Source showing. Again, coL lives and breathes Source so a win there is a loss for coL. Forza, DOA:F, and FIFA will all likely play well, meaning Source is key.

If coL wants to win, they need to carry their motivation. Their first win probably brought their spirits up and finally we’re starting to see the coL we wanted to see. The scary part is that they’re even better than last night when hot. If they carry that motivation from last night into tonight, they have a shot.

Sadly, I can’t see coL winning this match. Likely I’ll get bit in the ass again… Oh well…

Here’s how I predict the match plays out:

CSS: 11-7 coL
DOAM: 5-2 coL
DOAF: 5-1 3D
FIFA: 2-1 3D
FORZA: 5-2 3D
3D wins: 21-20

Hope you’ve enjoyed my predictions over the past month. Maybe we should do some post season predictions, yes?
