Peawok’s Daily CGS Predictions
Written By: Michael “Peawok” Fleming
Hey again everyone! It yet another day of training camp and I’m excited for today’s matchups. Offbeat Ninja goes up against last season’s MVP Black Mamba, Mystik meets up with Kasumi Chan, and Perfect Legend takes on NinjaCW. After a dismal performance, I’m looking for a nice victory this week. Here are Sunday’s scores:
SF Optx > Dallas Venom 4-3
3D.NY > Chicago Chimera 5-2
CompLexity LA > Carolina Core 4-3
Record: 0-3
Overall Record: 17-13
So, as you can see, I have a nice big goose egg sitting in that W column. But I’m not worried. Why? Because Forza, especially online, is horrible. I’m not saying the game is terrible – I love watching the races (most of the time). I just think that, in the CGS format, it’s impossible to truly show a team’s skill. Ch0mpr and JasonX may have led the way last season, but with a new game and some incredibly new, fast racers, it just won’t happen this season. The difference between the number one seed and the number six seed will be, at most, a game or two.
I can’t even begin to decide who will be the best Forza team at the end of the season. If I had to pick, I’d give the edge to 3D, but even then it’s just a formality.
The training camp should and likely will give the racers some knowledge into just how to play the game. We likely won’t see second place ram first much anymore, until their teammate behind them is ready. This should call for some amazing late game smashes. For now, though, I don’t know if it will happen.
That’s enough on Forza for now. Here’s my DOA Predictions:
Tuesday, April 29: Dead or Alive 4
Black Mamba vs. Offbeat Ninja
Black Mamba comes into this matchup looking a bit rusty. He lost his first week, 5-4, and then was taken down by Chappelle this week, 5-3. I don’t think this will affect the season all too much, but an online predictions means I need to judge him for his online play. I don’t know what’s up with him so far this week, but I think we should have another close game between him and Offbeat.
Offbeat comes into this match after an absolutely terrible week against Perfect Legend. I don’t know what happened and neither does Mark Dolven. It comes down to Perfect Legend playing incredible, and Offbeat just getting unlucky at times. If you read my preseason weekly review, I think Offbeat is not number one, or maybe even number two, this season. But he gets a win here – it’s way overdue.
Offbeat Ninja wins
5-4
Kasumi Chan vs. Mystik
Mystik comes into this match 1-1, after a strong thrashing of Belle and a terrible performance against Vanessa. I still think Mystik is either number two or three this season, so she should have a strong performance. Mystik will certainly use her main this week. She needs the extra practice time. She should take this match, unless Kasumi Chan comes in with one, a good controller, and two, her main.
Kasumi Chan has played terribly so far this season. Random characters and controller configuration has left me confused about this girl. I’m praying we see her finally come out with a character she knows and a controller she loves, but I won’t put my money on it.
Mystik wins
5-3
MASTER vs. Chappelle
MASTER comes into this match 2-0 after two very close performances. Should he use his main, he shouldn’t have a problem handling Chappelle. The DOA Male division is by far the most talented division and the term “Any given Sunday” definitely applies. MASTER is my number two choice and he should have no problem taking on Chappelle this week.
Chappelle comes into this match as my weak link. He, in my opinion, is the worst player in the division. That’s not to take anything from him; He’s a great guy and player, but I just think the other males are a bit ahead of him. He should take down his opponents several times, but I don’t see him taking down MASTER here.
MASTER wins
5-3
Phoenix vs. Coolsvilla
Phoenix comes into this match 1-1. Unfortunetly for me, those matches are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. She crushed Kasumi Chan and her poor controller configuration, and then was crushed by Vanessa last week. Phoenix is my number two or three girl and I don’t see her having any problem playing well this week.
Coolsvilla played well last week, winning 5-1, but to be honest, I’m not even considering anyone’s matches vs. Kasumi Chan. Kasumi Chan isn’t playing the way she should be. Coolsvilla’s performance against Belle was terrible as well. So, it comes down to my belief. I don’t see Coolsvilla placing well this season – probably fourth or fifth. Of course she’ll only be behind the third or fourth place finisher by a few points or maybe a game. This game goes to Phoenix.
Phoenix wins
5-1
NinjaCW vs. Perfect Legend
Perfect Legend destroyed Offbeat Ninja last week, 5-0. It was a spectacular performance for PL, and I’m sure Jason Lake is jumping up and down over his new found “secret weapon”. Well, he’s turning into no secret. I think PL can easily be number one at the end of the season. He’s just too incredible and can play numerous characters to counter his opponents strengths or use the maps strengths. PL should take this, unless it’s NinjaCW’s time to upset.
NinjaCW nearly took down Master last week, but dropped the last round to lose 5-4. NinjaCW is a great player and should keep every game close, but I haven’t been able to find a place for him in my top three. He may be the one to upset PL, but I’ll wait for the season to make that prediction.
Perfect Legend wins
5-4
Vanessa vs. Belle
Vanessa is still a machine. … What more do you want? She still rips apart her opponents and will likely go undefeated. She may have some close calls, like my 5-4 prediction against Phoenix some point during the season, but I doubt she loses at all this year. That’s all I got for you, sorry.
Poor Belle. She’s about to experience another thrashing. I’ll say Vanessa wins 5-0 so maybe Belle can upset me and get 5-2. But sorry, if Belle wins this I’ll never predict against her again. This is a David vs Goliath match up, but I don't see David winning.
Vanessa wins
5-0
That’s it everyone. Hope you enjoy my predicitions. Let me know yours. Until tomorrow, everyone. I’m off to take my English final. Enjoy the matches!
