Peawok’s Daily CGS Predictions
Written By: Michael “Peawok” Fleming
Hey again everyone. I did pretty well yesterday, predictions speaking. Unfortunately, though, I’m sick. The heat of the day combined with the freezing cold has taken its toll on me. Hopefully that doesn’t make me delirious and pick the sandbagging Core. Here are yesterday’s scores:
Mojo > Kabe 3-2
Kreegan > Barmoa 1-0
Eafra > Stermy 2-1
Record: 2-1
Overall Record: 28-27
Well, there isn’t much to say about the first match. Neither player will play in the regular season. It was a shootout so the game was probably pretty intense. But, sadly, neither will make it into the league.
Kreegan narrowly edged Barmoa. That’s good, but it also gives me a few head-scratches. FIFA is very close. I only see one clear champion (Kreegan), but after him it’s just “the rest”. But with how close the rest of the league is, those one or two points can really help your team.
Eafra beating Stermy helped confirm this further. My supposed number three took a loss as well. So, my whole predicted final standings are in a blur. I can’t really decide where anyone will place, other than Kreegan; It’s just too hard to tell. Guess we will have to wait for the regular season. To entertain you though, and maybe cause some e-drama (we need some right now), I think they will end (from first to last), Kreegan, Wizakor, Stermy, Barmoa, Eafra, Anomaly. But, that’s just a flat out guess. Online play can’t tell the story for LAN, but I think it tells a bit.
See why I’m scratching my head? Here’s my CSS Preds:

3D.NY vs. Carolina Core
With Juan in the driver’s seat, 3D has started to rebuild their teamwork and find the edge and drive they needed. The 3D people were so afraid of, for the other teams’ sake, is finally reaching that level. I’ve never believed that 3D will be as good as people make them out to be, but I think they will be quite deadly. It will be interesting to see how they handle their first LAN (CGS Regular Season), but their all seasoned played and should handle the transition well.
There isn’t much to say about Core. They aren’t playing to their potential and unless Mark gave the okay, we’re not going to see anything special come out from them. They might keep the game close but I doubt they will win. I can’t wait for the nod to be given though, because when Core is hot they’re all but unstoppable. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the regular season for that.
3D wins
10-7
Dallas Venom vs. Los Angeles CompLexity
Dallas has done all right so far. I don’t think they are, or will, be number one during the regular season, but they should keep games close and exciting nonetheless. They’ve got solid players, and I see a few upsets during the regular season. Dallas and coL have never really played nice with each other, so I’m pretty excited to see this matchup.
coL has done well, aside from that OPTX match. I don’t know what’s going on with the internet business, but frankly, I’m not going to start pointing fingers or making excuses – There’s just no need. coL was winning 7-0 and OPTX came back to win eleven straight. That’s the simple way to put it. The map was nuke, so things like that can happen. They still will be the team to beat come regular season. This game will be close, but I think fRoD will have another big day.
coL wins
10-8
Chicago Chimera vs. San Francisco OPTX
Training Camp has really helped Chicago. They have greatly improved since the start of the preseason and, excluding 3D, have improved the most. We do have a number of questions though. Brian did answer why Pham was playing instead of Hahn, but that does cause frustration to everyone trying to study their play. I really feel for Pham; He deserves to be on at team. I hope someone really considers bringing him in. As for Chimera, they have improved but still aren’t one of the top two teams.
San Francisco, though, is. They pack the biggest punch in skill, and their teamwork is no joke as well. I was skeptical about Kat’s selections at the draft but she may have found the right guys to push the team to the top. Of course, like 3D, we’ve only seen online play. But all the players are good on LAN as well. I think OPTX may be the team to take the CSS throne away from coL. They’ll take this online match easily.
OPTX wins
10-6
That’s it everyone. I’m off to take some medicine. See you Sunday!
