Peawok’s Daily CGS Predictions
Written By: Michael “Peawok” Fleming
I’m sad, everyone. I’ve been doing terrible as of late – currently 5-7 for the week. Not good; Definitely not good. And with how Forza is, and with the mess of this week’s CSS matches, I’m in over my head. Luckily for me, I have my magic 8Ball. We’ll be using that for the remainder of the week. Here are yesterday’s scores:
Eafra > Anomaly 3-2
Barmoa > Wizakor 3-0
Kreegan > Stermy 4-2
Record: 1-2
Overall Record: 21-18
I don’t know how Barmoa crushed Wizakor, but it’s making me think that the FIFA division is a whole lot closer than what I thought. Of course, online play is a LOT different, but even so I’m still like “oh God, talk about a close season”.
Eafra and Anomaly had an amazing game and I knew it’d probably be close. Unfortunetly, Eafra got the best of Anomaly. Anomaly said he’s doing well and people shouldn’t look to deeply into his record, but I’m still starting to question.
Kreegan continues to be the monster that I have come to know and love. (Hey, he’s from Jersey! Represent!) Stermy played well, but Kreegan is by far the favorite going into the season. Jake would have been crazy to not protect this guy, with or without a CSS member’s approval.
My magic 8Ball says “Yes” to moving onto my CSS predictions, so here you are:
Thursday, May 8: Counter-Strike: Source
Chicago Chimera vs. Carolina Core
Chicago has lost two close overtime matchups so far. They are a great group of guys and all good players, but so far they haven’t been able to seal the deal. I don’t think Flander was too worried about them being the next CompLexity – just keeping it close. Aside from the last two matches, we haven’t seen much of these guys to judge their true skill. They missed last CEVO season, and the roster shakeup just adds to my confusion. Personally I think that when they get offline they’ll be much better.
As for Carolina, they haven’t played nearly as well as I had expected. I hate to say it, but I am almost positive these guys are hiding their true skill. If anyone believes Carolina is a bad team, they need to get their head checked. They will be a dominant force once the season starts. It’s a battle of the defeated this week, and my magic 8Ball is telling me to go with Carolina. Carolina picks up their first win here.
Carolina wins
10-7
LA CompLexity vs. SF Optx
CompLexity comes into this matchup looking extremely solid. Whatever bugged them over CEVO is finally worn off, and the rust of this “machine of total domination” has been destroyed by OxyClean or whatever your preferred brand may be. Zet makes his return again this week, so I’m excited to see his new love of the AWP. Also remember that CompLexity is at the coL house, giving them a clear advantage over the other teams. CompLexity should put up quite a challenge for Optx.
Personally, I think that the Optx team’s individual skill is the best in the league. Their players are some of the best in the league and if anyone can match Los Angeles in skill, it would be them. If they bring their A game, they should have no trouble keeping the game close. This is definitely the match of the week, but I think, and the 8Ball agrees, that Jake just won’t let CompLexity lose this match.
CompLexity wins
10-9
Dallas Venom vs. 3D New York
Dallas comes into this match 1-1. They narrowly edged out Chicago the first week and then lost to Optx. I don’t think Dallas has the best CSS team by far, but I wouldn’t count them out in any match. They have five above average players who all work well together. If a team isn’t aware, Dallas could easily take the match. However, I just don’t know if 3D will be sitting back.
3D comes into this match rejuvenated after a close win against Chicago. They have the individual skill and with Juan leading them I think they will be a top team towards the end of the season. They have the individual skill and a strong leader – All they need is time. I’m inclined to go with 3D, but the 8Ball is telling me “No”. Guess I’ll go with Venom.
Venom wins
10-7
That’s it everyone. I know it’s short, but maybe more people will read these. Who knows? I’m off to polish my 8Ball. I’ll see you all tomorrow – or, as my 8Ball puts it – “Try again later”.
