CEVO Preds: Week 9.2

Posted by: aMies

CEVO CS 1.6 Predictions

By Jimbo "Suicidal" Robinson

Last week we got back into full-time action after Hurricane Gustav forced a few matches to be postponed, and the week did not disappoint with some exciting CS-action. This week we will venture into the last half of week 9 on the same map de_russka. We have some very intriguing matchups indeed. We start off with team x3o battling MoB.Gaming, and Mug N Mouse looking to continue their winning ways against another hot team in Paragon of Virtue.

In what appears to be;.50 Calibre may forfeit out their remaining matches, they are set to take on Ruins. Our very own compLexity Syndicate will try and hang on to that playoff spot when they take on j1n. Even with all of their roster shuffling, EG.usa is still one of the better teams in CEVO, and they are set to play Ferocity. With the last match on the schedule, Frag Dominant will try and remain in the playoff race when they face Devastation. With the playoffs rapidly approaching, it should turn out to be an exciting last few weeks of this CEVO-P season, and I wish all of the competeing teams the best of luck throughout the remainder of the season.

x3o (15-2) vs. MoB.Gaming (12-5)

This will be the first meeting since their "controversial" matchup at the ESCW in California a few weeks ago; in a last-ditch effort to send the only American team still in contention to the next round, it was clear that MoB.Gaming throwed the match in x3o's favor. This however, is CEVO-P; and both teams want another victory before heading off into the playoffs. After the shocking trade of Hostile going to to EG.usa in return for Scott "evolution" Cavallero, it could be all MoB.Gaming needs to get back on top of the CEVO-P Standings.

x3o will win if.... x3o has been perhaps, the hottest team in the league. They have reeled off 10-consectutive victories in a row, which has resulted in 4-game lead over the current second place team, POV. The last victory did however, come from the hands of MoB.Gaming back in week 4. For x3o to come out on top of this match, they will need to ride their current confidence levels, and force MoB.Gaming to play outside of their game-plan. If they do this, they will win.

MoB.Gaming will win if.... Throughout most of this season, MoB.Gaming has been sitting on top of the standings and were clearly, the team to beat. Since then however, they find themselves a few percentage points below POV in the standing and currently sit in third. They will have to figure out how to knock x3o out of their groove, and find some early momentum and advantage. If they do this, they will win.

And the winner is.... It seems week-after-week, we have one of these intriguing matches. This one, like the rest; should not disappoint. I'm not quite sure the addition of evolution is going to pay off for MoB.Gaming this week or not but both teams have the ability to come out and win against the other on any given day; at this time in the season, I look for x3o to ride their current momentum to an 11th straight victory. x3o will win this match 16-13.

Mug N Mouse (7-10) vs. Paragon of Virtue (11-6)

This next match has some great promise swirling around it. Two of the hottest teams in the league at the moment, are set to duke it out in his match. Mug N Mouse has won 6 straight including wins against MoB.Gaming and Frag Dominant. Paragon of Virtue has won 7 of their last 10 matches with wins over MoB.Gaming, compLexity, EG.usa and Frag Dominant.

Mug N Mouse will win if.... They have finally got down to business and gave effort to win these CEVO matches and it has payed off. They have won three times as many matches over the past few weeks than they have in the first half of the season. This should be a tight match, very little room for mistakes; so they need to play smart, and finish rounds. If they do this, they will win.

Paragon of Virtue will win if.... Take away the overtime loss to j1n a week or so ago, and POV has silently built a very impressive season. Victories over MoB.Gaming, EG.usa, compLexity, and Frag Dominant twice, they can take hold of a playoff spot with a victory here. They have been playing very well and need to continue to play complete game.

And the winner is.... A few weeks ago if you would have told me MNM would have been competimg for a playoff spot this late in the season I would have laughed, but no jokes about it they have came back with a vengeance. This match is going to be won by the first team who is able to force their opponent to make the first mistake, and that team is going to be Paragon of Virtue. I wouldn't be surprised if this one goes to overtime. Paragon of Virtue will win this match 16-14.

.50 Calibre (2-15) vs. Ruins (5-12)

Coming into this match, .50 Calibre has forfeited their last three matchups; and I have no reason to believe this will be any differant after it seems they have been moved down to the CEVO-Main division.

So after what appears to be the end of the season for .50 Calibre in the CEVO-Professional division this season, I will no longer give you guys a in-depth prediction for their side of the match.

Ruins is coming into this match struggling, losing 8 of their last 10 matches; their last two losses being in blowout fashion from the hands of EG.usa and the compLexity Syndicate.

compLexity (10-7) vs. j1n (8-9)

The compLexity Syndicate has looked a lot better over their last four matches, notching all wins to help their playoff chances. Their going to have to continue to roll and get this win before they meet up with Frag Dominant, MoB.Gaming, Mug N Mouse, and POV to end the season; all four of those teams have been solid, or on a roll thus far. J1n on the other hand, in only sitting one match behind Frag Dominant for that 6th position in the standings, and with the bulk of their schedule already complete; could find themselves in great position to lock up a playoff spot.

compLexity will win if.... The Syndicates up and downs have continued all season long but they have shown signs of vast improvements over these last few weeks. They seem to have gotten their timing down and they also have minimized their mistakes which results in a much better chance of victory. Last week on Russka they looked very strong and played the map like they have been playing 1.6 constantly. They play anything like they played last week, they will win this match.

j1n will win if.... jin is coming into this match looking to end compLexitys current four-game winning streak. They will need to play well if tey want to beat compLexity at their current playstyle. j1n and coL met back in week 4 of the season with The Syndicate coming away with the 16-11 victory, and j1n must win to keep pace with their playoff aspirations. They find themselves one game out of the 6th place position in the standing and with FD playing Devastation, they need to get a win here against coL. J1n has showed signs of life with a victory of POV a week ago, so if they play like that here, they can win.

And the winner is.... I honestly think that the compLexity Syndicate is a much better team at this current point in the season, and I think The Syndicate will show it on a map like this. CompLexity will come out from the start, and dominate the rounds until they find themselves with a pretty impressive victory. compLexity wins this match 16-8.

EG.usa (11-6) vs. Ferocity (6-11)

This next match is going to be a pretty interesting one in my eyes. EG.usa coming off of another roster change, after they picked up Hostile from MoB.Gaming in a trade for evolution. Now this marks like the 6th different starting lineup for EG.usa during the season, which could explain their lack of domination from this team. They will be taking on Ferocity this week, who got demolished on this very map just a few days ago by compLexity.

EG.usa will win if.... They have been a mediocre 50% in their last 8 matches, which is from the result of multiple starting 5's. They seem to have found their solid 5 now, so it's going to be interesting how the rest of their season turns out. They should have no problem with putting away ferocity for another win here.

Ferocity will win if.... This same ferocity team was able to put away the EG.usa squad earlier in the season, their going to need a similar game and the way the executed their gameplan if they want to win this match. It's no question that this will be a test for Ferocity and they are going to have to rise to the occasion.

And the winner is.... With EG.usa usually winning these type matches against teams they should defeat, I see no reason why now they shouldn't win here. They need a victory here if they want to hang on to the fourth spot in the standings that the compLexity Syndicate has their eyes on. EG.usa comes out and shows signs of a solid starting lineup, and puts another win in the books. EG.usa wins this match 16-11.

Frag Dominant (9-8) vs Devastation (6-11)

Through the first two weeks of the season, Frag Dominant found themselves undefeated; that includes a victory of MoB.Gaming. Since then, they have went a mere 5-8 and now find themselves battling for a playoff spot. This week they are against Devastation who has shown signs of life when they play teams with a higher rankings beating four of the current top-seeded teams, so it should be another exciting match.

Frag Dominant will win if.... Frag Dominant is coming into this game losing their last four matches, all teams that are currently ranked higher than they are or riding a season long winning streak. The still have one of the most solid players on their roster in "gwhatkey" and he can single handedly carry a team. They should be able to come out and dominante a "lesser-talented" team.

Devastation will win if.... Devastation holds victories over: compLexity, Mug N Mouse, EG.usa, and Paragon of Virtue. So its no question they can pull off the upset here against Frag Dominant. They will need to play with mindset that they can indeed win this match, and force Frag Dominant to play in a style they are uncomfortable with, if they can do this...they can win.

And the winner is.... As much as an upset here with Devastation over Frag Dominant would shake up the standings, I just don't see a loss like this coming from FD. They should come out and play well enough to secure another victory for their organization. Frag Dominant wins this match 16-7.

That does it for week 9, with only two weeks remaining after this; it should make for an exciting finish to an exciting season....Good Luck to all the teams and happy readings.

Tonight I do believe PuNk1e.

and I know there are grammar issues, its hard to keep up with what you write sometimes. I put alot of thought into what I want to say and sometimes I get ahead of myself thinking about other matches before I am actually done with the one I am on.

I appreciate everyone who leaves feedback....Thanks guys.
